If you’re a student in London then the city is your oyster – it can be an incredibly exciting and fulfilling experience. However, you’re also faced with the paradox of choice. There are so many great places to live how do you make sure that you’re based in the right one? These are some of our suggestions as the best places to be if you’re looking for student life in London
- Shoreditch. You’re just 10 minutes away from the centre of the city here and will be in the company of 50,000 other students. This is renowned as one of the cool areas of London and is filled with great shopping and dining, interesting pop ups, vintage shops and lots of great bars and clubs.
- Islington. Another super popular area for student life in Central London, Islington has everything from fancy shops to farmer’s markers. Highbury Fields is just the other end of Upper Street and there are great connections to locations all over the city from here. Eating, drinking, shopping and going out are all heavily catered for, no matter what you’re into. Plus, Islington has lots of quirky and inspirational spots, from markets through to hidden antique gems.
- Kings Cross. In recent years the area around Kings Cross has been completely redeveloped and regenerated into somewhere with a lot of life and a lot of options for students looking to get the most out of studying here. The station itself is connected to cities all over the country and is even home to Platform 9 ¾ where you’ll find the Hogwarts Express. Walk slightly further from the station and you’ll come to Granary Square, which has become a hub for some of the best culture and eating out in the whole of the city.
- Richmond. Although it’s a little further out than some other locations this can be beneficial for those who don’t want to feel like they’re staying in the centre of a city. Plus, if you’re based in Richmond then you have access to the incredible Richmond Park as well as the River Thames.
- Camden Town. No matter what you love you’re bound to find some of it in Camden, whether that’s street food or drumming circles. This part of London is renowned for its lively nightlife, breadth of culture and fantastic shopping. It’s also very well connected to some other lovely parts of the city, including Primrose Hill and the Southbank via the Northern Line.
- Notting Hill. This picturesque part of London is often viewed as a playground for some of the cooler celebs and has a great arts scene. Here you’ll not only find the annual Notting Hill Carnival but also a great range of nightlife, dining and a deep sense of community too. Portobello Road market is also within easy reach, which is one of London’s shopping Meccas.
